Geraldton Facts

Geraldton, situated 428 km's North of the Western Australian capital of Perth, has a population of around 35 000 and boasts some of the best windsurfing and kiteboarding conditions in the world. Although officially known as " Sun City " most of the locals refer to Geraldton as " The Windy City ". The windy season is traditionally from October through to March/April with predominantly Southerly sea breezes of up to 40 knots. Daily temperatures range from 25 to 35 Celsius and water temperature varies between 19 and 22.

As a large regional city and the main commercial hub of the Midwest region, Geraldton boasts plenty of excellent restaurants and cafe's, offering a range of cuisines including Thai, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, A La Carte and Mediterranean. As Geraldton is also a large commercial fishing region, you will also find specialty seafood restaurants with the freshest fish and seafood on their menus.

BY AIR: Skywest Airlines regular daily flights to and from Geraldton. The flight takes approximately one hour and one way fares range from A$100 to A$210 depending on flight dates and availability. BY BUS: There are two bus services with regular daily services to Geraldton. They are Greyhound-Pioneer and Transwest Coach Services. The trip takes approximately 6 hours and bus tickets range from A$28 to $47 per person. BY CAR: Travelling to Geraldton by car takes approximately 5 hours. By driving it is possible to check out some of the other sailing spots between Perth and Geraldton such as Lancelin, Cervantes, Jurien Bay, Green Head, Leeman and Dongara.
